What is the PN Cadet Course?
The PN Cadet course is the ultimate, most coveted gateway to becoming a Permanent Commission (PC) Officer in the Pakistan Navy. Successful candidates undergo 1.5 years of rigorous academic, maritime, and military training at the Pakistan Naval Academy (PNA). Upon graduation, they are awarded a BS degree from Bahria University and are commissioned as Sub-Lieutenants.
Strict Eligibility Criteria for 2026 Terms
Educational Qualifications
The Academic Threshold: You must have passed both Matric and FSc (or O/A Levels) with a minimum of 60% marks. Because the Navy is a highly technical maritime force, your FSc must be in one of the following groups:
- Physics, Maths, and Chemistry (Pre-Engineering)
- Physics, Maths, and Computer Science (ICS)
- Physics, Maths, and Statistics
Age Limits (Calculated As of Joining Date)
- Civilian Candidates: 16.5 to 21 years of age.
- Service Candidates (Already serving in Armed Forces): 17 to 23 years of age.
Pro Tip: Candidates who are currently appearing in their FSc Part-II exams can apply using a "Hope Certificate" signed by their college principal, stating they are expected to achieve at least 60% marks in the final board results.
The Initial Entrance Test Syllabus (E-Testing)
The initial computer-based test for PN Cadets is notoriously competitive and heavily conceptual. It consists of two rapid-fire sections:
1. Intelligence Test: 75 Verbal and Non-Verbal (pattern recognition) questions to be solved in just 35 minutes. Time management is critical here.
2. Academic Test: 75 MCQs encompassing FSc-level Physics, Mathematics, English, and General Knowledge, to be solved in 40 minutes.
Having a strong command over Physics (especially optics, electromagnetism, fluid dynamics, and mechanics) and Calculus is absolutely vital to clear the initial cutoff merit.
